Being kind and compassionate is a virtue, but being excessively good to everyone, all the time, can sometimes lead to self-neglect and a loss of self-respect. When you prioritize others’ happiness over your own well-being, you may end up being taken for granted. People might start expecting too much from you, and your own needs and boundaries may get overlooked. This can create emotional exhaustion and make you feel undervalued in your own eyes.

It’s important to strike a balance between kindness and self-respect. Being good doesn’t mean you have to say “yes” to everything or let others overstep your boundaries. Sometimes, standing up for yourself and saying “no” is necessary to maintain your dignity and inner peace.
